TPS are a society to facilitate, develop and promote best practice and innovation in transport planning and provide a focus for dialogue between all those engaged in it, whatever their background.

Members have been attracted from a wide range of organisations from the public to private sectors and from a range of educational backgrounds. The society currently has over 1,400 individual and student members and their membership continues to grow as the society develops.

 The University of Birmingham is the original ‘redbrick’ University, part of the prestigious Russell Group; our thriving student population enjoys a wide range of courses, and exceptional campus and research facilities. The University is also home to the Birmingham Centre for Railway Research and Education which is the largest university-based centre for railway research and education in Europe.

Transport is a major research focus for the University, and it is leading on a number of pioneering sustainable mobility projects including battery and hydrogen technology for trains with an aim to drive forward the UK's net-zero agenda.
